Stepping down as Wigley Group CEO

After 16 years of colossal work, it is, with a heavy heart time for me to step down as CEO of The Wigley Group. The last 16 years have seen significant growth and change across all areas of the business, and I am immensely proud of what I have achieved.

As the company marks its 60th anniversary, and concludes last year’s reorganisation of the business, it’s the right time to allow others to take on the respective responsibilities and for me to spend time with my family; reflect and recharge my batteries, and consider (in time), what my next challenge might be.

There have been many highlights over my 16-year tenure, many of which I could never have anticipated back in 2008. Some of the highlights include;

  • Led, sourced, negotiated, & transacted the growth of the property and land portfolio from circa £17 million in 2008 to over circa £50 million in 2024 through strong negotiation, problem solving, facilitation, stakeholder management, asset management, & people management.

  • Led & delivered with respective Directors some incredible construction & development projects including;
    - Over 150,000 sq. ft. of small/mid box industrial schemes across Coventry & Nuneaton.
    - Newmarket July Course Grandstand refurbishment & hospitality extension (Jockey Club).
    - The Daimler Powerhouse, Coventry (Godiva Awakes/Coventry City Council).
    - Hallfield School building extension (Hallfield School).

  • Led (with team) the delivery & launch of two joint venture projects in the strategic land & leisure sectors, leading the key relationships between all parties.

  • Worked with financial institutions on over £25 million worth of property transactions.

  • Created a vast network of industry leads & invested a huge amount of time in facilitating opportunities for others and finding value in bringing people together.

  • Conceived, facilitated, & delivered half a dozen new businesses and respective brands, working with key team members, most of which are now operating successfully in their own right.

  • Implementation of family succession strategy/shareholder engagement.

  • Recruited, headhunted, mentored, & supported a fantastic team of up to 50 people.

  • Created, alongside colleagues, two philanthropic funds to support the armed forces & our local community. To date the funds have raised over £180k and supported over 50 organisations and individuals. I have also orchestrated & delivered with my team 4 additional charity events for cancer-based charities, raising approximately £50k.
